If you're not in the market for an antivirus program because of the high costs of yearly updates, you might be interested in checking out Immunos. Immunos is a free antivirus software solution which takes care of many different types of infections such as trojans, viruses, malware, spyware and other unwanted processes which may be running on your system.
Though the Immunos name isn't well-known, the technology that it is based off of is definitely world-class: That's because underneath it all, Immunos is powered by Clam AntiVirus which itself doesn't have its own user interface. Unfortunately, the layout of Immunos still needs some time to grow, but it is overall easy-to-use and install.
Immunos resides quietly in the system tray, much like other antivirus packages which are available. By clicking the taskbar icon, you're presented with a balloon message. The system tray icon unfortunately doesn't provide speedy access to common tasks and simply restores the main interface window after it's been double-clicked.
Unfortunately, the program still needs some time to grow and there definitely are easier antivirus packages out there for the time being. With that said, this program is easy to get going and isn't too bad at all on system resources.
In short, if you're a power-user who notices the effects that antivirus software has on system performance, Immunos is definitely worth checking out due to the power of ClamAV and the speed at which this package operates.
Installation note: During the installation process of Immunos, you may be prompted to change your browser homepage and search engine settings or install additional offers.
